Mickie James, a seasoned professional wrestler and the reigning IMPACT Knockouts World Champion, recently opened up about her bittersweet experience of relinquishing her coveted title. After successfully defending her championship belt against Jordynne Grace in a thrilling Title vs. Career match at IMPACT Rebellion 2023, James had continued to reign supreme over the women's division with her unparalleled skill and tenacity.

However, her illustrious reign was cut short when an unfortunate injury befell her, forcing her to withdraw from her scheduled title defense at IMPACT x NJPW Multiverse United. Upon further diagnosis, James was found to have suffered a broken rib, and it was with a heavy heart that she made the difficult decision to relinquish her championship. As a result, Deonna Purrazzo went on to claim the coveted title by defeating Grace at IMPACT Rebellion.



During her appearance on Busted Open Radio, James poured her heart out about the heart-wrenching experience of letting go of the championship she had worked so hard to win and defend. "It is heartbreaking. It’s not how I wanted this whole thing to end, for sure. I’m so grateful for everything and these matches I’ve had. It’s been some of my best stuff ever. I’ve had so much fun and I really tested myself and had some of the best matches I think I’ve ever had. The women now are incredible, and that’s just it. I don’t know. I’m a bit heartbroken and sad, but it’s okay. I’m so grateful for my career," James said.
