Jeff Hardy’s DUI Case Closed, Receives A 10-year Suspension Of His License
Dating back to June 2022, Hardy was arrested by Florida Highway Patrol officers in Volusia County, Florida on charges of driving with a suspended license.
Now, the case has been closed on Thursday after he submitted a written plea of nolo contendere to all charges. Per the settlement, Hardy's license will be suspended for the next decade and he will spend 38 days in county jail as part of his sentence.
"Nolo contendere" is a legal term that comes from Latin and translates to "I do not wish to contend." It is a plea that a defendant can enter in a criminal case, which is similar to a guilty plea but with some important differences.
When a defendant enters a plea of nolo contendere, they are essentially admitting that the prosecution has enough evidence to convict them, but they are not admitting guilt.
Check out the full sentence via Volusia County court records:
A 38-day county jail sentence with 38 days credit for time served
Two years probation
$4586 in fines and court fees
A 10-year suspension of his license
Two years with an interlock device and 90-day vehicle impoundment
Court-mandated DUI school or drug rehab program
