Jack Perry's backstage scuffle with CM Punk at AEW All Out last year continues to have repercussions. While Punk was fired, Perry's fate remains uncertain.
The altercation between Perry and Punk sent shockwaves through the wrestling world. Perry, then the FTW Champion, hasn't been seen on AEW TV since the incident. Punk, a major acquisition for AEW, was let go due to it being his second such incident in a short period.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Perry attempted to mend fences with AEW CEO Tony Khan. After being sent home, Perry reportedly reached out to Khan with apologies, expressing regret for any trouble he caused. However, Khan remained unresponsive. The communication only resumed when AEW lawyers contacted Perry.
Despite the apologies, Perry remains off AEW television. He currently wrestles for New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), joining the villainous House of Torture stable in March. While some view this as a storyline leading to an eventual AEW return, Perry hasn't hinted at leaving NJPW.
The situation between Perry and AEW remains murky. Khan's reported anger and Perry's extended absence from AEW raise questions.
