Israel Adesanya has reclaimed his position at the summit of the UFC middleweight division, triumphing over his long-standing adversary, Alex Pereira, at UFC 287.
Adesanya's unwavering aspiration to one day join the ranks of the WWE has been no secret, and he has paid homage to WWE icons in the past through his celebratory gestures and grand entrances. In the lead-up to UFC 287, Adesanya took to Twitter to share the iconic "My Way" video package from WrestleMania 17, which vividly showcased the epic feud between Steve Austin and The Rock.
Astonishingly, within a mere week of Adesanya's tweet, the WWE made a groundbreaking announcement of their agreement to sell the company to Endeavor and merge with the UFC to form a new publicly traded entity.
"It's on his bucket list, for sure," Adesayna's manager Tim Simpson told ESPN. "He wants to [do a match]. He's been very disciplined. We've had acting opportunities turned down. He's been very disciplined about being an athlete. Because he knows that's all in his future. So, I can't see him doing it while he's still competing. But in the future? Definitely bucket list."
