Box Office: Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan's '72 Hoorain' Scores A Low Opening Weekend

Mumbai, July 10 - National-award winning filmmaker Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan's latest film "72 Hoorain" has had a low opening weekend at the box office as the movie could score approx. 1.25 crores net in three days.

Starring Pavan Malhotra and Ameer Bashir in lead roles, "72 Hoorain" was hit by controversy even before its release as a section accused the makers of hurting religious sentiments through the movie. CBFC granted the movie 'A' certificate.



Unlike "The Kerala Story", this kind of controversy failed to hype up "72 Hoorain" as the movie almost went unnoticed at the box office in the opening weekend. It took a low start and netted just 35 lacs, before scoring approx. 45 lacs each on Saturday and Sunday.

Produced by Gulab Singh Tanwar, Ashoke Pandit, Kiran Dagar, and Anirudh Tanwar, the movie is unlikely to make a miraculous turnaround going forward as word of mouth is almost negligible due to extremely low footfalls in the first three days.
