AEW Faces 'Very Chaotic' Backstage At Dynamite Last Night Due To Several Unplanned Absences From The Show
Last night's episode of AEW Dynamite reportedly faced some backstage challenges due to several unplanned absences, resulting in a chaotic atmosphere and a show with a "disorganized feeling."
The most notable absence stemmed from the tragic passing of Sting's father. This meant Sting, originally planned for the show, had to be replaced by Ric Flair.
Jeff Hardy and Trent Beretta were also unexpectedly unavailable. Hardy was slated for a "key role," while Beretta's singles match with Orange Cassidy was heavily built up but scrapped due to illness. Mike Bennett filled Beretta's spot, but the replacement came at the last minute.
While speaking on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that a sense of uncertainty backstage, leading to limited pre-show announcements. The team reportedly avoided "false advertising" due to the unknowns surrounding talent availability.
This lack of prior information and the last-minute changes contributed to a "disorganized feeling" for viewers. While the show went on, it lacked the usual level of structure and anticipation.
