Guwahati, January 22 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's spy action thriller Pathaan is set to big screens on January 25, 2023, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages. The movie, however, has been at the center of controversy, and recently, a group of people allegedly stormed into a cinema hall in Assam's Narengi on Friday, vandalizing property and burning down posters of the movie.
Shah Rukh Khan has expressed concerns over such incidents and dialed Assam CM to look into this matter. The CM took to his Twitter account to announce that his government will do anything to protect law and order in the state and ensures full support for the screening of the film.
"Bollywood actor Shri @iamsrk called me and we talked today morning at 2 am. He expressed concern about an incident in Guwahati during screening of his film. I assured him that it's duty of state govt to maintain law & order. We'll enquire and ensure no such untoward incidents", the CM wrote on Twitter.
Earlier yesterday (Jan. 21), when asked about the protests against the screening of 'Pathaan', Sarma said "Who is Shah Rukh Khan? Why should we care? We already have many Shah Rukh Khans? I have not heard about any movie by the name of 'Pathaan' and neither do I have any time for it".
"Pathaan" is directed by Siddharth Anand and is produced by Yash Raj Films. The movie also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone in prominent roles while Salman Khan plays a cameo as Tiger.
