Akshay Kumar To Headline Sequels To 'Hera Pheri', 'Awara Pagal Deewana', And 'Welcome'

Mumbai, November 8 - It has been a tough year for Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar who failed to give a single hit at the box office in many many years. Akshay has four theatrical releases in 2022, and none of them could reach 100 crores at the domestic box office.

Though the box office numbers of his movies are higher than most of the other Bollywood films, the films underperformed as the expectations were high. The box office scenario post the covid-19 pandemic has changed a lot and it seems Akshay Kumar has realized it and has decided to revive the iconic characters he played in the past.



According to Pinkvilla, Akshay Kumar has decided to revive the blockbuster sequels to his iconic comedy capers like "Hera Pheri", "Welcome", and "Awara Pagal Deewana". It is said that the superstar has been meeting with producer Firoz Nadiadwala and they already have had multiple meetings over the last few months.

The news about "Hera Pheri 3" has already been making noise for the last couple of years as Nadiadwala confirmed in multiple interviews that he has a script ready for this blockbuster franchise to take this forward.

"The idea is to revive the three franchises and bring back the Hindi cinema audience in a big way. The three films fit the bill of post covid content, to create genuine excitement in the audience. The talks are on with 3 top directors, and expect an official announcement on one of the three projects in the next few months", the report says.

Apart from the aforementioned films, Akshay will also be visiting "Jolly LLB 3", and "Houseful 5" along with the already announced two-hero action comedy "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan". He also has "OMG 2", "Soorarai Pottru" remake, "Selfiee", and "Capsule Gill" in the pipeline.
