A Follow Up To Godzilla x Kong Film Is Officially In Development
Mumbai, May 11 - In the wake of the mega box office success of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, a new film in the MonsterVerse has officially been tapped at Legendary/Warner Bros. Studios, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter.
According to THR, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings screenwriter Dave Callaham has been roped in to write the script for Godzilla x Kong's follow-up. Director Adam Wingard is expected to return at the next film in the series, however, the filmmaker has no deal at this stage.
Godzilla x Kong, which was released in March, has performed excellently at the worldwide box office. The movie has grossed close to $550 million globally, including $190 million at the domestic (North America) box office. It was made on a budget of $135 million.
Legendary's MonsterVerse kickoff in 2014 with Godzilla and so far, the studios' five movies have collectively earned over $2.5 billion at the global box office, making it one of the highest-grossing film franchises.
