The sequel to Drishyam, which is based on the same-titled Malayalam thriller, picks up where the first movie left off, with Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay Devgn) leaving a police station with a shovel. The fact that there was a witness to the nearly perfect crime seven years ago is what gives the police the motivation and ammunition to reopen the Sameer Deshmukh missing-person investigation so many years later.
Now a theatre owner, Vijay has a dream to adapt one of his own stories into a movie. While his younger daughter Anu (Mrunal Jadhav) is in her teen years, his older daughter Anju (Ishita Dutta) is still reeling from the shock of the traumatic events. His wife Nandini (Shriya Saran), along with the rest of the family, are all moving on with their lives.as usual—but be cautious. Additionally, they constantly feel a creeping sense of fear. The Salgaonkars' lives are turned upside down by a series of unanticipated incidents when a truth threatens to upend everything.
As the plot develops, even the support Vijay received from his community seven years ago starts to wane, and people start to wonder if he actually committed the crime. When the police investigation is launched under the direction of Inspector General of Police Tarun Ahlawat (Akshaye Khanna), Sameer's mother and former IG Meera (Tabu), who was killed accidentally in Drishyam, the plot of both movies picks up steam. This time, they don't minimise the protagonist while following the leads.
