A Sequel To Nushrratt Bharuccha's Critically Acclaimed 'Chhorii' Announced

Mumbai, December 16 - Bhushan Kumar's T-Series in association with Abundantia Entertainment, Crypt TV, and A Pshych Film has announced the sequel to the critically acclaimed horror-thriller film "Chhorii", starring Nushrratt Bharuccha in the lead role. ## Based on Marathi hit film film "Lapachhapi" (2017), the Hindi version received wide appreciation from critics and audiences alike, especially to Nushrratt Bharuccha who stole the show as a pregnant woman. Vishal Furia will be returning to helm the sequel. Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur's War Drama 'Pippa' To Debut In Theaters In December 2022

Mumbai, December 16 - Ishaan Khatter-fronted war drama film, "Pippa" is all set to debut in theaters on December 9, 2022, the makers announced on Thursday. Directed by "Airlift" fame Raja Krishna Menon, the movie features Mrunal Thakur as the female lead alongside Priyanshu Painyuli and Soni Razdan in prominent roles.## Bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur, "Pippa" is billed as a heroic tank battle film that underscores the bravery of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta (Khatter), a veteran of the 45th Cavalry tank squadron, who, along with his siblings, fought on the eastern front during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.## The release date was announced on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the 1971 Indo-Pak war on Thursday (December 16). Bollywood Box Office Update Before Spiderman Juggernaut

Mumbai, Dec 16, 2021: There have been few films that had done decently well at the box office whose run gonna end as the box office will see the release of juggernaut called Spiderman: No Way Home. ## The first film which brought the audience back to the theatre - Sooryavanshi which was released on Diwali saw a huge Opening-weekend. The film had good enough public reports and trended well since its weekend. There have been few circuits that didn't perform for Sooryavanshi but the Blockbuster business in Maharashtra and Gujarat had nullified that. The Total collections of Sooryavanshi now stand at 195.22 Cr plus and the film is looking to finish its theatrical run at around 196 Cr. ## The 2nd film which did well theatrically post the release of Sooryavanshi was Antim: The Final Truth starring Ayush Sharma and supported by the much-hyped extended cameo of Salman Khan. The film had seen good first weekend collections and just like Sooryavanshi, the reports were good for Antim too. As a result, Antim had seen healthy collections over weekdays to give a total of 39.40cr till now. Antim will finish its theatrical run at 40 Cr. The film has emerged as a successful film in trade terms. ## The 3rd film which had done well was Tadap which was the debut film of Suniel Shetty's Son Ahan Shetty. The music of the film was well-received and despite the new face, the film got good footfalls in its theatrical run. The total collections of the film now stand at 26.81 Cr and the film will end its theatrical run at 28cr. ## The Two films that didn't perform as expected were Satyamev Jayate2 starring John Abraham and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui starring Ayushman Khurana. Anushka Sharma Back Out From Cricket Legend Jhulan Goswami's Biopic!

Mumbai, December 15 - Actress Anushka Sharma, who was last seen in Anand L Rai's "Zero" opposite Shah Rukh Khan, was supposed to make her comeback with Indian cricket legend Jhulan Goswami's biopic. However, due to the covid-19 pandemic and other reasons, the movie went through major changes, and now, the latest reports suggest that Anushka will no longer act in the film. ## The biopic was supposed to go on floors at the end of 2021, which is not happening as Anushka has backed out from the project, and she will now be a part of the film only as a producer in association with Sony Pictures India. It is reported that Tripti Dimri, who led Anushka's production venture Bulbbul, has replaced her to play Jhulan Goswami in the feature film. ## The biopic will be directed by Prosit Roy, who earlier directed Anushka's 3rd production film, Pari. Mumbai, Dec 14, 2021: Today completes 20 years of one of the historic hits of this generation "Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham" which was released exactly 20 years ago on 14 December 2001. The ensemble multi-starrer family drama is considered one of the biggest multi-starrer ever made on the Indian-theatrical screens. ## The film featured 3 major stars and although Amitabh Bachchan was past his box office domination days, his popularity remained untouched and he was among the most popular stars of that time. The film also had the current sensation, Hrithik Roshan, the first time sharing the screen with Shah Rukh Khan who was a major established star from the mid-90s. ## Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham had a huge pre-release hype due to its casting and music and as a result, the film took an earth-shattering opening. It was 2nd Blockbuster film for Amitabh Bachchan in Character roles after Mohabbtein. ## Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was never seen before phenomenon overseas breaking every existing record by huge margins and setting new records which took many years to get broken. Sooryavanshi Is Not Finished Yet

Mumbai, December 13 - Rohit Shetty's "Sooryavanshi" is turning out to be a true box office monster. There have been many films in the past that died down after the first week itself, and then, there is "Sooryavasnhi", which is into its 6th week and still going strong despite limited shows. ## The covid-19 pandemic has posed many challenges in front of the Indian film industry, especially Bollywood. There haven't been many theatrical releases in the last 18 months or so and those released didn't perform up to their potential. Honestly, there haven't been any audience-appealing films that could have forced people to visit theaters. ## However, things changed after the second covid-19 wave as Bollywood decided to step ahead. While many films are still not performing to their potential (not bad either), Sooryavanshi has been exceptional on every front. This Akshay Kumar-starrer was Bollywood's best foot forward to bring the industry back to its strong feet, and not surprisingly, it has performed like that at the box office. ## Released over Diwali weekend, "Sooryavanshi" has had a free run at the box office for at least two weeks and it took full advantage of that by earning over Rs. 165 crores. It is the first Rs. 100 crore Bollywood grosser at the domestic box office during the pandemic. It was expected TBH since it had a star element attached to it, plus, it was mass appealing, which helped it to perform significantly well on single screens. ## After finishing two weeks' run, there was a big challenge for "Sooryavanshi" to carry the momentum because of the new release in form of "Bunty Aur Babli 2" (Nov. 19), and then "SMJ2" (Nov. 25), and "Antim: The Final Truth" (Nov. 26). "Sooryavanshi" passed that challenge with flying colors and netted Rs. 18.68 crores in the 3rd week, followed by Rs. 6.43 crores in the 4th week. And this all happened with Maharasthra cinemas operating with 50% occupancy. ## The 4th week was probably the toughest for "Sooryavanshi" as it had to compete with two mass-oriented films at the box office. It not only rose through that challenge but also maintained that momentum in the 5th week as well as 6th weekend despite new releases in the form of "Tadap" and "Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui". ## "Sooryavanshi" will most probably be finished around Rs. 197 crores India net from the current total of Rs. 195.04 crores after 38 days. The box office run of "Sooryavanshi" might be coming to its end but it has shown the way to the rest of the films. It clearly refused to die down when challenges were thrown to it. This film has booked its name in history which will tell the tale of the films that revived the film industry during the health crisis. ## Worldwide, "Sooryavasnhi" has grossed a little over Rs. 292 crores. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: Ayushmann Khurrana's Content Driven 'Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui' Hits A Fair Weekend

Mumbai, December 13 - Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor-starrer "Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui" has had a fairly healthy opening weekend at the box office. ## "Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui" has had a decent start on Friday with the opening day collection of Rs. 3.75 crores. However, as it often happens with Ayushmann's film, the movie grew over the weekend, thanks to the strong word of mouth from critics and audiences. ## It jumped by 29.87% (biggest 2nd-day jump during covid-19 for a Hindi movie) for Rs. 4.87 crores on Saturday and then, another 21.36% jump on Sunday for Rs. 5.91 crores to finish the opening weekend Rs. 14.53 crores India net. The movie is heading towards Rs. 23-24 crores in the first week.## Released over 2500 screens in India, "Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui" dominates metro multiplexes, Delhi, NCR, and Chandigarh while it also witnesses growth in Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru. Overseas, the Abhishek Kapoor-directed has so far grossed approx Rs. 2.85 crores. It released over 500 screens outside India. ## Ayushmann Khurrana has once again hit the ball out of the park by picking up another hard-hitting content-driven out-of-box script, but it is Vaani Kapoor, who is equally getting praised for putting a strong performance. Not only the director but also the next movies of the main stars associated with that film expect the audience to be better than the previous film. ## I have written these lines because the film that we will talk about today had similar expectations from the audience to the distributors. Today we will talk About the film "Shaan", produced by P. Sippy and directed by his son Ramesh Sippy, released on 12 December 1980. ## Everyone knows that "Sholay" was directed by Ramesh Sippy. Perhaps no cinema lover would be unaware of the box office records of "Sholay". This film proved to be a milestone in the Hindi film industry. The film set such records that an era is counted in the Hindi film industry as a pre-Sholay and a post-Sholay era. ## "Sholay" was also a big-budget film and was made in around 3 crores. Yes, G. P. Sippy and Ramesh Sippy knew very well that now after "Sholay", what are the people's expectations from them, so there was a plan to make "Shaan" on a very big level in every department. ### After the record-breaking box office success of "Sholay", this film was also expected to garner the same success as "Sholay". The first week's collections of this film in Mumbai were almost 100%. ## But due to poor mouth publicity of the film, the collections slowly came down. The second-week collections were 89% in Mumbai and 78% in the third week. This film was made on Sholay's double budget of about 6 crores. Due to the bumper success of Sippy's previous film Sholay, the All India Rights of this film was bought by the distributors for about 10.75 crores. Ultimately the distributors suffered a loss of about 3 crores. ## The film was re-released in digital print in April 2005 by Sippy to mark its 25th anniversary. Overall, the film earned a net of around 4.25 crores in India. The gross of the film was eight and a half crores and it was the fifth highest-grossing movie of that year.
