Ranveer Singh's '83' Crosses 'Jai Ho', 'Housefull 2 & 3', And More At The Worldwide Box Office

Mumbai, February 7 - Ranveer Singh-starrer cricket biopic, "83", has been struggling big at the Indian box office. The Kabir Khan-directed grossed approx Rs. 1.50 crores in its 7th weekend, pushing total domestic haul to Rs. 125 crores. ## The domestic box office of "83" is poor considering the fact that the movie cost over Rs. 220 crores in production. Overseas, "83" is the biggest Indian movie, released during the covid-19 pandemic. After 45 days, it has grossed approx Rs. 64 crores. The total worldwide gross for the film currently stands at Rs. 189 crores. ## Produced by Deepika Padukone, Kabir Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Sajid Nadiadwala, and Reliance Entertainment, "83" may be a disappointing outing, it has still surpassed many Bollywood biggies at the worldwide box office. Check out the full list of highest-grossing Hindi films, here.## After the 7th weekend, "83" down Akshay Kumar-fronted "Housefull 2", which grossed Rs. 188.4 crores worldwide and Salman Khan-led "Jai Ho" (Rs. 186.37 crores). The movie also surpassed "Housefull 3" (Rs. 185.7 crores), "Stree" (Rs. 182 crores), and a few others. It also becomes the 64th highest-grossing Bollywood film at the worldwide box office. ## The makers of "83" should thank the recent postponements due to the 3rd covid-19 wave, which helped the movie to get a free run at the box office. It wouldn't have reached the current collection had there been competition with other films. Salman Khan's 'Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali' With Producer Sajid Nadiadwala Release Date Locked

Mumbai, February 7 - Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's big-ticket comedy-drama "Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali" is gearing up to kickstart the production next month in Mumbai. The Farhad Samji-directed has been in pre-production for a long time, and finally, it is seeing the light of the day. ## "Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali" marks Salman Khan's 7th collaboration with producer Sajid Nadiadwala, and according to reports, they have decided to release this film on Eid 2023. Interestingly, the duo's last film together, "Kick", was also released on Eid in 2014, and became a blockbuster. ## After "Kick", Salman and Sajid were supposed to reunite for its sequel and even made the official announcement. Alia Bhatt's Darlings Sold To Netflix For Rs. 80 Crores

Mumbai, February 7 - Alia Bhatt who is next going to be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Magnum opus Gangubai in a titular character, has been in the news for many reasons lately. As she is gearing up for the worldwide theatrical release of Gangubai on 25th February, according to Pinkvilla, her upcoming film Darlings has been sold to Netflix for 80crs.## Darlings is an upcoming film that marks Alia Bhatt's debut as a producer along with Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment will see a direct to digital premiere on Netflix this summer. The film is in the post-production stage and is ready to be released in the summer according to the same source. ## Talking of Darlings, it's said to be a dark comedy about a mother-daughter relationship. Sanjay Dutt Launches His Production Company In A Bid To Bring The Heroism Culture Back In Bollywood

Mumbai, February 7 - Sanjay Dutt is one of the few actors who truly believe that theatrical experience is the real cinema and the heroism culture, which is slowly diminishing in Bollywood, is the backbone of it. And now, the Bollywood star is putting his efforts to bring back the golden age of heroism to the industry.## Sanjay Dutt, who has acted in several films since his debut with "Rocky" in 1981, has launched his production company, Three Dimension Motion Pictures, in an attempt to bring the heroism culture back in Bollywood. ## Giving the examples of the recent pan-Indian box office success of larger-than-life heroic South Indian films, "Pushpa - The Rise" and SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali" films in Hindi, Sanjay Dutt told Variety, "We're trying to get back what we had, what the South Indian films are doing now".## When we entered the film industry, we started off with heroism, heroic roles, mass love, and everything, and I just saw that stopping. And I am trying to revive that. The golden age – it just can't die. Even if you look at Hollywood, it exists there, and in the South. I don't know what happened to Bollywood. But that's what we're trying to get back – those days of heroism", he added.## The first film in Dutt's Three Dimension Motion Pictures is a horror-comedy, "The Virgin Tree", to be directed by Sidhaant Sachdev, and will have a cast of four newcomers. While the other projects are not titled yet, it includes a family drama, some action films with younger actors, and some more action films with a mature man as a hero.## All the films in Three Dimension Motion Pictures are meant to be released in theaters only. 25 Years of Cult Classic Judwaa

Mumbai, 7th Feb 2022: Judwaa starring Indian Megastar Salman Khan was released 25 years ago on this day. It was an eid holiday weekend and it emerged as a big hit all across the country. There were big strikes just days before the release of this movie nationwide because of the Entertainment Tax issue. But this didn't go on to impact the performance of the film in theatres. ## It emerged as a path breaker in the comedy genre which set the tone for future comedy movies. It features Karishma Kapoor, Rambha alongside Salman khan as the leads. The supporting cast consisted of veteran actors Kader Khan and Anupam Kher. Sanjay Dutt On What Makes South Indian Film Industry Better Than Bollywood

Mumbai, February 7 - Bollywood stars Sanjay Dutt joins the actors and filmmakers who are praising the South Indian film industry for keeping the audience excited about the theatrical experience, which Bollywood is continuously failing to provide. ## For the last few years, South Indian films have been spreading their wings in the Hindi market and getting the desired results. The thing is that the South Indian industry is superstar-driven which can easily be seen in the box office results while the same is not happening in Bollywood on large scale. ## Sanjay Dutt, meanwhile, blames the involvement of corporate structure in vanishing the heroism in Bollywood while in the South, he feels that the same thing does not exist which has worked for them. There are people who, from the production or from the producer, to the director, to everybody involved in the team… they're passionate about making good films and that is the thing which has worked for them. And that has gone against us because that passion for making movies or that passion of making something great and working and performing is gone", he added.## Sanjay Dutt cited the recent pan-Indian box office success of South Indian film "Pushpa - The Rise" and the films of "Baahubali" filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli as examples of the vanished larger-than-life heroism in Bollywood.## On the work front, Sanjay Dutt has multiple big-ticket films ready for release. He plays the main antagonist in the upcoming Pan-India biggie, "KGF: Chapter 2", starring Yash as the protagonist. Scheduled to release on April 14, "KGF 2" is sure going to be a mega-hit in Hindi. Why Bollywood Is Down And What They Need To Do In The Future?

Mumbai, February 6 - Bollywood is the biggest film industry of Indian cinema in terms of everything be it stars, reach, business or potential. But from the past few years, there's huge negativity happening for the industry. So despite recording one of the best years ever in terms of business produced, the Bollywood industry is not at its peak anymore.## What went wrong for the Bollywood industry and what they should do now. One major problem that occurred for the industry, in general, is that the older megastars are working in much fewer films than they were working a decade ago. The Bollywood industry is star-driven. The bigger the star, the higher the business would be there, at least initially, and then if the content is liked, the film will put huge numbers across the board. The 90s stars who are still the most popular should go for more releases especially the Khan Troika as this is their last phase. ## The next big problem is originality and novelty. The remakes in Bollywood were always in the fashion but since the past few years, it has peaked and as a result, the public is not getting excited for Bollywood as there is nothing new. Due to the arrival of OTTs, The public can watch the original films and when the same is being remade, they don't go for it. Of course, the exception is there as Kabir Singh became a huge blockbuster being a remake film but it was backed by blockbuster music which is a must for a youth mass love story for the Hindi audiences. What Bollywood needs to do is - Have to produce original films with a new and fresh story and if possible, with a bigger star cast as they will guarantee a wider reach.## Another main problem of Bollywood is - They are targetting the niche audiences of metros rather than a larger section of an audience which limits the potential as masses can't relate to those films unless the films are extraordinary. Almost 80% of cinema-goers who watch Hindi films in theaters are from the middle class. They are the audience that is responsible for a HIT or A FLOP. ## Before the advent of the multiplex, niche films were known as art films and which do not use to collect well due to non-existing audiences for those types of cinema then as it was a single screen era. But after the arrival of the multiplexes, these niche films are started collecting well and they were also started known as multiplex films which is fine as they contributed to the overall business of the films. But from the past few years, these types of films are made on a larger number than they should be, and mass commercial cinema which caters to almost 90% of the film-goers is being ignored. It is not that they are not being made but in a less number than usual and not in a correct way. So what happens is why you don't make movies for them, they don't have another choice than lapping on a different industry film even if the film is dubbed. ## A similar scenario has happened on Xmas 2021 when an event film from Bollywood 83 was released alongside south dubbed the film Pushpa. 83 was not a bad film from any angle but it was not for the larger section of the audience and then they decided to go for the south dubbed film. The collections are there to prove which kind of films the Hindi audience are want to watch. If south dubbed film can reach 100cr even after opening to a mere 3cr then with Hindi stars who are bigger, 200cr can come eyes closed. But you need to make a film for the first. Our Directors and Producers need to make films for a larger audience. ## As mentioned before, The Bollywood industry is star-driven and this is where another problem arises. The last huge star our industry has created was long back in 2000 in the form of Hrithik Roshan. Since then the Industry did not get a star with a genuine box office clout and popularity. Some stars who debuted in the late 2000s and early 2010s are still being considered new stars even after 10 years after their debut. Few of them are very talented but when the workload is so less than the expectations increases for their every single outing and it is tough to hit the expectation every single time. ## They have followed the bandwagon of the Khan troika as all of them (Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir Khan) have slowed down and working in a selected number of films. But what the new generation is forgetting is that it is their initial phase so they can't work in a limited number of films as that puts a lot of pressure on huge numbers. Mumbai, Feb 5, 2022: A movie theatre which is otherwise known as a movie hall, picture house, the silver screen is the place where the audience watches movies of their interest. Indian film industry stands itself among one of the top industries in the world, having produced a large number of movies of each genre. ## Capital Cinema Hall in Mumbai is the oldest cinema theatre in India established in 1879. Currently, there are around 9000 movie theatres in India which include 6327 single screens 3200 multiple plexes as per stats. Movie halls are the best places where the audiences are accustomed to a marvellous experience which helps them overcome their daily stress, anxiety etc. ## The Theatre viewing experience establishes a connection between the viewer and the fantasy movie character. Big screens provide wholesome entertainment that the viewers gets locked in an imaginary world throughout the duration of the movie. ## During the '50s, '60s and the 70's decade movie theatres were the only sources to view movies and they enjoyed a non-competitive and dominant run in business. ## Movies used to run for over a year during these times as there was no competition from ott, television etC. Due to these reasons movies used to generate very High footfalls back then. Movies used to get reruns during that time and a prime example is Sholay which was successful in its all reruns. But as the times passed theatres began to experience competition from other platforms. ## It all started in the 80's decade when piracy came into existence, which eventually lead to people watching movies in VCR doing piracy which affected the silver screens. The footfalls of the movie's started to decline to post this and this was a matter of deep concern for the producers and the theatre owners then. ## The movie Maine Pyar Kiya busted this mythical the belief that footfalls can't be rosen back after it generated more than 4 cr footfalls the main reason for which being its extraordinary content. ## After Maine Pyar Kiya the industry struggled to even touch 3 Cr footfalls until movies like Hum Aapke Hain Kon, DDLJ and Raja Hindustani arrived. Around this time the popularity for television was also increasing rapidly, as a result of that, the producers began to telecast the movie immediately after the theatrical ended which put full stops on re-run trend. ## A larger number of people used to wait till the movie appeared on television as a result of the increase in television demand which further affected the theatre business. The years 2002-2007 witnessed a large increase in multiplex audiences and decline in single Screen audiences reason being the urban friendly content movies which were produced in large amount during this time. ## Rural audiences prefered massy actions movies which were limited during this period due to which single screens had a tough time. Due to this trend in more urban-friendly movies they struggled very much to hit 2 cr footfalls. These instances lead to single screens being on the verge of extinction. ## The movies like Ghajini (2008), Wanted (2009) and Dabangg (2010) broke this dogma and the single screens were revived once again. This encouraged the makers to make such types of the movie's as the audiences were more into this type of stuff. The business was revived very well but it didn't meet the craze it used to have before the 90's because of competition from the rival platforms. ## With the help of content and their mass fan following actors like Salman Khan and Aamir Khan were able to drive mass audiences into the theatres.
