Alia Bhatt To Headline An Action Thriller Film, To Be Produced By Karan Johar

Mumbai, July 18 - Bollywood star Alia Bhatt is extending her association with producer Karan Johar as the duo is reportedly set to join hands for their 12th film together. Alia is currently gearing up for the release of Karan Johar's directorial "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani", also starring Ranveer Singh, which is slated to release on July 28. ## According to Pinkvilla, the SOTY actress will headline an action thriller film that will be produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and to be directed by Vasan Bala. The yet untitled project is said to be a jail-break story and is currently in the pre-production stage. ## "Alia will be seen playing one of the most challenging roles of her career in this movie, and she is excited to go on this new adventure and explore a genre she hasn't attempted before. Bala has written a cracking jailbreak story, and people who are aware of this project are already excited about it. This is going to be a heck of an interesting movie", the report reveals. ## The casting of the other actors is currently underway as the makers are planning to take the movie on floors by September this year. Before starting this untitled movie, Alia will have two releases. While "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani" is a big-screen entertainer, Alia's Hollywood debut movie "Heart of Stone", co-starring Gal Gadot, will release on Netflix on August 11. ## After wrapping up Vasan Bala and Karan Johar's film, Alia will move to one of the most-anticipated films, "Baiju Bawra", to be directed by blockbuster filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Filmmaker Rohit Shetty Opens Up On The Box Office Failure Of Ranveer Singh-Fronted 'Cirkus'

Mumbai, July 15 - Filmmaker Rohit Shetty takes the blame on himself for the box office failure of the comedy caper "Cirkus" starring Ranveer Singh in a double role. Released in December last year, the movie failed miserably to gross just around 60 crores, becoming the lowest-grossing film of Shetty since "All The Best" (2009) at the worldwide box office. ## During a recent interview with India Today, the maverick filmmaker said that every success and failure of his movies belongs to him. "I make sure to surround myself with people who are honest with me. So, when a film doesn't do well, I know it. Hence, I have always believed that both my successes and failures are mine. There is no point shying away from it", he said.## "When a 'Singham' or a 'Golmaal' did well, that was also mine, so when a 'Zameen' (2003), a 'Dilwale' or a 'Cirkus' failed, that was also mine. I don't see a point in blaming anything else", Shetty added.## The "Singham" director further said that "Cirkus" was made during the pandemic for the workers so that they can earn their livelihood. Shetty's next theatrical release is the highly-anticipated third installment of the "Singham" franchise starring Ajay Devgn which is due to start filming next month and be released during Independence Day weekend 2024.## Shetty promises to make a solid comeback with "Singham Again". "The same audience made 'Sooryanshi' a blockbuster despite a 50% occupancy, and if it didn't work for 'Cirkus', I must take ownership of failures as well. Mumbai, July 11 - The much-awaited sequel to producer Dinesh Vijan's blockbuster horror-comedy "Stree" has commenced filming today in Chanderi. Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao return to reprise their roles along with Pankaj Tripti, Aparshakti Khurrana, and Abhishek Banerjee from the first movie. ## The makers announced the commencement of the shoot today with a twist in the plot of "Stree 2". While Stree, played by Flora Saini, brought chaos in the life of Chanderi's people, this time Stree will come to save them from the terror of a head-cutter as the villagers call for "O Stree, protect us".## Amar Kaushik returns to direct the sequel, produced by Vijan's Maddock Films. Raj & D.K., who wrote the screenplay of the first film, are not a part of the movie. Mumbai, July 10 - The wait finally ends and the Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is there to fight the wrongs in society in the first look teaser/trailer of the highly-anticipated action thriller film Jawan" directed by Atlee Kumar. ## The 2-minute and 12 seconds promo gives the first look at Shah Rukh Khan's different looks as well as the first look at Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, and Deepika Padukone (cameo). The makers have officially described the movie as a "high-octane action thriller which outlines the emotional journey of a man who is set to rectify the wrongs in society". ## The promo begins with a voiceover by Shah Rukh Khan, who says, "I don't know who I am or what I am, I do not know". He goes on to say whether he is a promise made to a mother or a purpose.. unfinished. "Am I good or bad, a blessing or a curse, ask these questions yourself. Because I am you, for better or worse".## In between the dialogues, the actor indulges in some high-octane action scenes before we get to see glimpses of the soldier character that SRK plays. The teaser then gives a glimpse of SRK's bandaged look before he takes off his bandages to reveal an all-new bald look to hijack a train and goes on to say "When I become the villain, no hero stands a chance against me". ## SRK accompanies by his girl gang which helps him to fight the wrongs. Nayanthara and Deepika can also be seen involved in the fight scenes. The action-heavy promo, however, doesn't reveal what are the wrongs the actor and his girl gang are fighting. The promo ends with a funny train scene in which SRK is having a funny dance to an old song while the passengers shaking. ## Overall, the teaser lives up to the high expectations as it promises a complete mass entertainer SRK has never done before. Box Office: 'Satyaprem Ki Katha' Scores A Big Jump On Its Second Saturday

Mumbai, July 9 - Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani's musical romantic drama film "Satyaprem Ki Katha" is heading for a healthy lifetime collection at the domestic box office. Despite being not a mass-friendly film, it has done well in the first week to enter the second weekend with a bang. ## After dropping just 5% on its second Friday for 2.85 crores net, the Sameer Vidhwans-directed flick scored a big jump of 66.67% on its second Saturday to collect 4.75 crores net. This takes the total net collection to 60.81 crores in 10 days. It is expected to score a further jump today and is likely to bring in 5.50 crores for the second-weekend collection of around 13 crores. ## SPK also has done decently at the overseas box office to score approx. 13 crores net (estimated). The worldwide collection of the movie currently stands at around 85 crores gross and it will soon enter the 100-crore gross club globally. ## The Sajid Nadiadwala production has been able to attract its target multiplex audiences, especially the youth which is loving this romantic saga.
