YRF Unveils First Look Poster And Release Date of Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chhillar's 'The Great Indian Family'

Mumbai, August 14 - Yash Raj Films' long-awaited comedy-drama film "The Great Indian Family", starring Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chhillar in the leading roles finally has a release date in theaters. ## Directed by "Thugs of Hindostan" fame Vijay Krishna Acharya, "The Great Indian Family" has been in production since 2021, but it was delayed due to the covid-19 pandemic as well as some other reasons.## Now, the movie has been confirmed to hit cinemas worldwide on September 22, 2023, two weeks after Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan", and a week before Prabhas-fronted "Salaar". The release date was announced through a video featuring Vicky Kaushal.## In the video, Kaushal tells us what "family" means as he compares a family to a melodious classical Indian song. He then adds that it feels good to call a family nice but his family is full of snakes as the promo shows how the actor deals with his family in the movie.## With the release date announcement video, YRF also unveiled the first-look poster of the movie which features the entire primary cast, led by Kaushal and Manushi. Producer Guild and Multiplex Association of India Acknowledged Historic Box Office Weekend (August 11-13) In India

Mumbai, August 14 - The Producers Guild of India and Multiplex Association of India have jointly issued a statement on the historic box office weekend of August 11 to August 13 in India which show collections topping 400 crores gross.## The statement read the August 11-13 weekend proved to be the all-time biggest single weekend in the 100+ years of Indian cinema history in terms of gross box office collection. The same weekend also drew 2.10+ crores in admissions in theaters, which is also the highest combined footfalls in the last 10-year history. ## Shibasish Sarkar, president of GUILD, said in the statement, "Mainstream storytelling executed in the right way has resulted in the box office records being shattered. The turnout at theaters has infused a new energy in our industry, audiences are responding in numbers we have not seen for a long time".## Kamal Gianchandani, president of MAI, added, "It was a historic weekend which proves once again that India loves going to cinemas to see great movies. This weekend is also an undeniable demonstration of cinemas being the ultimate place to be a part of a shared experience. But now, things seem to have changed regarding this much-awaited collaboration.## According to Pinkvilla, Shahid Kapoor and Anees Bazmee have decided to part ways on this project over creative differences. The movie has reportedly been shelved for now but the future course of action will be decided soon. Telugu producer Dil Raju was the producer of the movie.## Shahid Kapoor was supposed to play a double role in the movie, tentatively titled "Ek Saath Do Do" or "Double Trouble". Box Office: 'Koi Mil Gaya' (Re-Release) First Week Collection

Mumbai, August 12 - On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan and superstar Hrithik Roshan re-released their superhit science fiction movie "Koi Mil Gaya" (2003) on August 4 in association with PVR Cinemas. ## The movie had limited re-release across PVR properties in around 30 cities as it was more like celebrating this cult classic rather than aiming for big bucks with a proper second-frame release. In the opening weekend, "Koi Mil Gaya" scored approx. 19 lakh gross in around 225 shows. ## After the opening weekend, the movie was left with a limited chance to score during weekdays as it grossed approx. 10 lakh from Monday to Thursday (August 7 - August 10). Box Office: Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani Crosses 100 Crores Overseas

Mumbai, August 12 - Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani turning out to be a huge blockbuster at the overseas box office. The movie, directed by Karan Johar and starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, has been on a strong run since its debut on July 28. ## At the end of the second week, the romantic family drama movie crossed the 100 crores mark overseas as total international reached approx. 104 crores ($12.5 million), including approx. $5.3 million (44 crores) in the second week. It dropped just around 23% from the opening frame which is an excellent hold.## North America is leading the international pack for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani with approx. $5.9 million (49 crores), followed by Gulf countries with $2.60 million (21.60 crores), and the United Kingdom with $1.5 million (12.50 crores) in just two weeks. Box Office: OMG 2 Opening Day/First Friday Early Estimates

Mumbai, August 11 - Akshay Kumar-starrer social comedy-drama film "OMG 2" has taken a decent start at the domestic box office. The major chunk of the opening day business of the movie has come through multiplexes as a large number of non-multiplex chains allotted to "Gadar 2" which is running riot at the box office. ## As per the early estimates, "OMG 2" is looking to score in the range of 9.50 crores net with an outside chance of hitting a double-digit mark depending on how strong smaller centers are. The opening of 9.50 crores net is in the expected lines as the movie didn't have the initial advantage due to "Gadar 2" euphoria.## "OMG 2" took a decent start in the morning and showed a jump in the evening and night shows, thanks to the super positive word of mouth. Box Office: Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani Scores Very Good Second Week

Gadar 2 Is Set To Go Berserk At The Box Office On Friday

Mumbai, August 10 - The hype for Gadar 2 is high and it can be seen in the advance booking of the film which is outstanding with the main day to follow. The advance is competing against the biggest advances of Hindi films post-pandemic like Pathaan and Brahmastra. In smaller centers, it is bound to be the biggest advanced film ever beating KGF Chapter 2.## Gadar 2 is a sequel to the all-time blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha which was released in 2001 and belongs to the league of Sholay, Mughal-e-Azam, Mother India, and Hum Aapke Hain Koun as to the greatest box office blockbusters of all time and it is still the biggest hit of this century, bigger than the likes of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Dangal, and 3 Idiots. ## The original movie had an opponent in 2001 in the form of Lagaan and even its sequel Gadar2 is having an opponent in the form of OMG2 which is again a sequel of a superhit OMG back in 2012 but OMG2 holds less appeal compared to OMG due to the subject of the film. It will be again a one-horse race like 2001 where Gadar smashed all records by leads and bounds. At the end of the day, it was a bad decision from the makers of OMG2 to go up against something as legendary as Gadar at the box office despite the restricted appeal of OMG2.## The projection of Gadar 2 opening currently is looking around 35cr net which will be an extraordinary opening but a higher number cannot be ruled out too the way the film is generating the hype. If the film manages to touch around the 40cr net box office mark then it will become the highest opening day footfall film beating Pathaan which was hugely helped by the enhanced ticket rates in the premium multiplexes. The advance in standalone multiplexes are comparable to Pathaan and in single screens, it will be bigger than any film to date. ## The Bumper opening will give a chance to Gadar2 to score the blockbuster 300cr net figure at the box office but that will depend on the public appreciation of the film. OMG 2 Advance Booking Status and Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, August 9 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is coming to the big screen with the sequel to his superhit movie "OMG" (2012), also starring Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam. Directed by Amit Rai, "OMG 2" has been in the news for the last few days regarding its censorship which has been the talk of the talk.## "OMG 2" deals with a very sensitive issue of sex education and the religious angle in it has kept the censor board busy. After closely reviving the movie, "OMG 2" managed to get done with censorship formalities with some changes and has been censored with an "A" certificate (adult only) with the approved run-time of 2 hours 36 minutes. ## The movie is expected to release on over 1500 screens nationwide, mainly due to the hugely hyped "Gadar 2" which is releasing on the same day (August 11). The "Gadar 2" juggernaut is clearly affecting the advance booking of the Akshay Kumar-starrer, which, however, still manages to put up decent pre-sales.## Even though the hype of OMG 2 gets reduced due to Gadar 2, the pre-booking of the movie is much better than Akshay Kumar's last release "Selfiee". As of 5 AM on August 11, "OMG 2" has sold approx. 113K tickets worth 3.3 crores gross for the opening day. In three national chains (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis), the film has sold approx. 70K tickets. ## The final pre-sales of the movie is expected to finish over 100K tickets overall, including around 70K tickets in PIC. It will mainly target multiple audiences and has less scope to score in smaller centres due to "Gadar 2". ## The advance booking trend of OMG 2 indicates the opening of at least 8 crores net and has a good shot at hitting the double-digit mark if the talks are positive. If it opens in the expected lines, it will be a decent start considering the scenario around it. The positive word of mouth could significantly boost its chances over the Independence Day week. ## The movie is the sequel to a hugely successful film, be it critically or commercially and this is one of the biggest pluses it is currently having.
