Warner Bros. Sets Anime Feature Film 'Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim' Theatrical Release In April 2024
Mumbai, February 15 - The original anime "The Lord of the Rings" feature film titled "The War of the Rohirrim" is under development at New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Animation. According to Variety, the feature film will have a theatrical release on April 12, 2024. ## "The War of the Rohirrim" is being directed by Kenji Kamiyama, known for the TV series "Blade Runner: Black Lotus" from the screenplay penned by Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou based on a script from Jeffrey Addiss & Will Matthews. The release of the anime feature comes 21 years after the culmination of the Lord of the Rings trilogy based on the iconic books by J.R.R. Tolkien.## Set roughly two centuries before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings", "The War of the Rohirrim" will explore the exploits of Helm Hammerhand, the King of Rohan, and the creation of Helm's Deep, the stronghold featured in Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers", reports Variety. ## The live-action "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential film series ever made. It was a major financial success and is among the highest-grossing film series of all time with $2.991 billion in worldwide receipts.## Interestingly, there is a live-action "The Lord of the Rings" TV series titled "The Rings of Power" is set for September 2, 2022, premiere on Amazon Prime Video.
