Irfan Pathan Becomes The First Indian To Sign Up For CPL Players Draft

Axed Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has signed up the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) players' draft for the upcoming edition of the tournament.

The players' draft is set to take place on May 22 in London and if Pathan gets picked up by the franchise then he will become the first Indian player to participate in an overseas T20 tournament.

However, the 34-year-old will have to get clearance from the BCCI as the board has always opposed to the idea of Indian players participating in overseas T20 leagues. Pathan will be needed NOC (No Objection Certificate) to play in the tournament.

Keep in mind, Pathan has not played an international match since October 2012 when he last featured in a T20I against South Africa. He also not played in Indian Premier League in the last two editions.

The all-rounder is the only Indian player to have signed up for the CPL draft. The tournament is set to take place from September 4 to October 12. Earlier, it was scheduled to play just after the World Cup but get postponed in order to avoid clashes with India's tour of the West Indies.
