After surpassing "Wonder Woman 1984's" lifetime collection in the extended 5-days opening weekend with $48.5 million, the monster film has now leapfrogged Christopher Nolan's "Tenet" to become the highest domestic grosser with around $60 million of the pandemic era.
Before Godzilla vs. Kong, Nolan's Tenet was the highest grosser movie which earned $58.5 million during its entire run at the domestic box office.
After the opening weekend, The fourth installment in Legendary's MonsterVerse series slowed down a bit but earned enough to beat Tenet to hold the top position at the US box office.
