The Taj Story Box Office Update: Paresh Rawal led film remains slow on Day 18; eyes a lifetime total of around Rs 20 crore

The Taj Story, the controversial historical drama starring Paresh Rawal, has collected a total of ₹19.55 crore at the Indian box office in its first 18 days. The film, which explores the contentious origins of the iconic Taj Mahal, saw a significant drop in its collections on its third Monday, earning ₹0.15 crore.

The worldwide collection for the film stands at ₹24.25 crore, with ₹1 crore coming from overseas markets and a gross collection of ₹23.25 crore in India.The Taj Story is a courtroom drama that centers on a tour guide, played by Paresh Rawal, who files a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the accepted historical narrative of the Taj Mahal. Directed by Tushar Amrish Goel, the film features an ensemble cast including Zakir Hussain, Amruta Khanvilkar, and Namit Das.

The film, which was theatrically released on October 31, 2025, has been a subject of debate due to its sensitive subject matter and has received largely negative reviews from critics. Many have pointed to a weak script and have categorized the film as propaganda, though some have praised Paresh Rawal's performance.

The movie opened with a collection of ₹1 crore on its first day. It witnessed a 100% jump on its first Saturday, earning ₹2 crore, and continued to grow on Sunday with ₹2.75 crore. As is common, the film saw a significant dip on its first Monday, with collections dropping by 58.18% to ₹1.15 crore. The first week concluded with a total collection of ₹11 crore.

The second week saw a similar pattern, with collections peaking over the weekend. After earning ₹0.9 crore on its second Friday, the film saw a massive 94.44% surge on Saturday with ₹1.75 crore and a further 22.86% increase on Sunday with ₹2.15 crore. The second week's collection stood at ₹6.7 crore, a 39.09% drop from the first week.

The third weekend also saw a rise in collections, with a 66.67% jump on Saturday (₹0.5 crore) and a 30% increase on Sunday (₹0.65 crore). However, the third Monday saw a steep decline of 76.92%, bringing in ₹0.15 crore

The box office trajectory of "The Taj Story" reveals a clear pattern: the film consistently performed well during its weekends but struggled to maintain momentum on weekdays.While the film is approaching the ₹20 crore mark, its declining collections suggest that its theatrical run is nearing its end.
