Directed by debutant Shanmugam Muthusamy, Diesel delves into the murky world of the oil mafia in North Chennai.The story is set against the backdrop of a fishing community whose livelihood is threatened by the installation of a crude oil pipeline.This leads to the rise of a Robin Hood-like figure who steals crude oil to support his community, eventually confronting a corrupt system.The film's narrative begins in 1979, with a voice-over by acclaimed director Vetri Maaran, explaining the origins of the conflict.
