Kamal Haasan's Much-Awaited 'Thug Life' To Stream On OTT After 8 Weeks of Theatrical Release

Chennai, May 21 - The blockbuster and the legendary duo of actor Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam have teamed up for the first time since their last collaboration, Nayakan (1987), for the gangster action drama film Thug Life.

Produced by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies, Thug Life is one of the most anticipated Tamil movies of the year, and the makers are treating it with utmost care. Also starring Silambarasan and Trisha Krishnan in prominent roles along with others, the film is scheduled to hit the big screen on June 5 in multiple languages.



Normally, Tamil films arrive on digital platforms after just 4 weeks of theatrical run, but Thug Life is set to break this norm. According to the reports, the film will be made available on OTT only after 8 weeks of the theatrical release in all languages.

Kamal Haasan himself confirmed the development at the Mumbai press conference, and he hopes that other filmmakers will follow this process. "It's not even an experiment, but the pragmatic thing to do. I am glad that the OTT partners sat down with us and agreed. It wasn't a negotiation, it was a plan. We hope others can follow this, which will make the industry healthy", he said.

Thug Life is a high-stakes gangster drama which will see a stand-off between Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan's characters. The recently launched trailer has raised the anticipation and ensured a big opening at the box office.
