Box Office: 'Kalki 2898 AD' Beats 'RRR' To Score Biggest Premiere For Indian Film In North America

Los Angeles, June 27 - Director Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD starring Pan India superstar has outgrossed SS Rajamouli's period action drama RRR to score the biggest premiere for an Indian movie in North America.

RRR, starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan, scored a $3.3 million gross collection on its North America premiere in March 2022, and now, two years later, Kalki has beaten this record. The movie grossed $3.85 (32.10 crores) on premiere day in NA.



Kalki 2898 AD scored $4.25 million in pre-sales for the entire weekend and could be among the top 10 movies this weekend in North America. As for the record, SS Rajamouli and Prabhas' Baahubali 2 is the highest-grossing Indian film in North America with approximately $22 million, followed by Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Jawan with $17.50 million and $15.25 million, respectively. Kalki will look to finish in the top 3.

Meanwhile, the movie has taken an excellent opening in India and is on track to 120+ crores on opening day, and with overseas opening to a strong note, the worldwide opening is expected to be in the range of 200 crores as projected. If it touches 200 crore gross opening day, it will be the third Indian movie to achieve the feat.
