Hardik, Karthik Included In ICC World XI For Windies T20 At Lords

Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik have been included in ICC World XI team for a solitary T20 match against West Indies on May 31st. ICC confirmed on Thursday (May 3).
"This is a fantastic opportunity for the fans of the Indian team to come out and watch these flamboyant players, who bring both class and star to what I'm sure will be a memorable match at Lords,"Giles Clarke, the former ECB Chairman, said.
"People would remember Pandya's valiant 43-ball 76 against Pakistan in Champions Trophy final last year while Dinesh Karthik too has played test cricket at Lord's. He has been in terrific form and recently blasted 29 off 8 deliveries and sealed victory over Bangladesh in the final of Nidahas Trophy with a last-ball six,"
This match is being held to raise funds for the reconstruction of Ronald Webster park in Anguilla, the Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua, the Windsor Park in Dominica, the A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground in the British Virgin Islands and the Carib Lumber Ball Park in St. Maarten, that were damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria last year.
Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik will join Eion Morgan, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Thisara Perera, Rashid Khan, Mitchell McClenaghan and Luke Ronchi in World XI team.
England's limited overs skipper, Eion Morgan, was named Captain of ICC World XI in last month. The swashbuckling left-hander had expressed his delight after named captain of World XI,"I'm delighted to captain ICC World XI at Lord's in May against the West Indies. The cricket family always comes together to support worthwhile causes and this one off T20I, featuring some of the best players in the world will be a great spectacle at the home of cricket. I'm sure that supporting public will come out in force and help raise money and awareness towards restoring parts of the Caribbean hit by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in September last year, which ripped throughout many communities in this beautiful part of the world," Morgan had said.
This the one-off T20I match has also given official T20 status.
