His defining season was 1982-83 where he made his come back to the side after three years and scored 1182 runs including five hundred in 11 away Tests against West Indies and Pakistan. And in 1983, he scored 1065 runs on overseas tours. Amarnath played 69 Tests for India and scored 4378 runs including 11 hundred.
