The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 has been suspended indefinitely following the rise in cases of COVID-19 within the bio bubble.

Yesterday, Kolkata Knight Riders' Varun Chakroborty and Sandeep Warrior came positive for the coronavirus which led the KKR match against RCB to be rescheduled. However, the latest development to trigger a total rethink on the tournament is the positive COVID-19 test result of Sunrisers Hyderabad's Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capitals' Amit Mishra.

Around 12 noon, the top officials of the BCCI were to meet to take a final call on the fate of the tournament with rescheduling the entire tournament being one of the agenda points. The BCCI had contemplated moving the remaining IPL to one city but the latest development has not left BCCI with much options.

It is said that BCCI asked a few franchises to know their views on the tournament's future. A few of them are learnt to have suggested to call it off totally.

Stay tuned...
