Mumbai, November 20 - Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese footballer has achieved another massive milestone on social media. The star footballer is set to become the first person to hit 500 million followers on Instagram.

Ronaldo currently has 499.60 million followers (at the time of writing), and is likely to hit the 500 million mark within the next few hours. Argentina's Lionel Messi is the second most followed person on the platform with 372.80 million followers, ahead of American Television Personality / Model / Businesswoman Kylie Jenner who has 372.55 million followers currently.



Cristiano is the most followed person but not the most followed handle. Instagram's own official handle is number one with 569 million followers. Singer Selena Gomez is the 4th most followed person with 356 million while actor Dwayne Johnson is the 5th with 347 million.

Apart from becoming the most followed person, Ronaldo is also likely to have the most liked post in Instagram history as his latest post with Lionel Messi is catching the eyeballs. The post currently had 32.9 million likes in just 22 hours.
