Bhubaneswar, November 14 - Odia biographical social drama film,
Daman, which was released on November 4, has been receiving a rousing reception throughout and outside Odisha state with packed houses in theatres and multiplexes in all major towns and cities.
The film, which stars Odia superstar Babushaan in the leading role, was released in a few areas but after the massive demand across the state and other cities, the screening of the film has been increased and it continues to get more screens with each passing day.
Meanwhile, "Daman" has taken the IMDb ratings by storm and become the highest-rated Indian film on the portal. The movie currently has 9.7 ratings out of 10 from 6.2K users, at the time of writing this. This is the highest rating for an Indian film. It is running with houseful shows and breathed a new lease of life into the Ollywood industry.
Directed by Debi Prasad Lenka and Vishal Mourya, "Daman" portrays a doctor's relentless fight against superstitions and struggle to make tribal people aware of facts about Malaria.
The movie is based on real life accounts of Dr. Omkar Hota, who saved hundreds of lives in Malkangiri on his real life mission in between 2015 and 2018. Displaying an extraordinary act of humanity, Dr. Hota carried a pregnant woman, Subhama Marse in a cot for 10 km to the nearest Public Health Centre (PHC) in Malkangiri.
