Hyderabad, March 25 - Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's film with director Trivikram Srinivas is unlikely to release on initially announced August 11, 2023.
Tentatively titled
SSMB28, the movie is currently being filmed at a brisk pace and was on track for its August release. However, over the last few days, there have been rumors doing rounds about the postponement after Megastar Chiranjeevi's "Bholaa Shankar" got announced for Independence Day week release.
It is said that the makers are now looking to release "SSMB28" either in October on the occasion of Dussehra or Sankranthi 2024. Mahesh Babu is said to be in the favor of Sankranthi's 2024 release. The last film of Mahesh Babu to release on Sankranthi was "Sarileru Neekevvaru" (2020) and it was a blockbuster with a worldwide gross collection of over 200 crores.
Produced by Harika and Hasini Creations, "SSMB28", however, will have to face stiff competition if it arrives on Sankranthi 2024. The Prabhas-fronted mega movie "Project K" is already scheduled to release during that time and there might be a couple of more big films attempting to grab that festive slot, which remains to see.
The film has Pooja Hegde as the female lead and she reunites with Babu after their blockbuster "Maharshi". It also stars Sreeleela, Ramya Krishnan, and Prakash Raj in key roles.
