Hyderabad, June 8, 2021: National Award-winning actress, Keerthy Suresh has seen her three films released during the covid-19 pandemic. While Penguin and Miss India released directly on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix respectively, Rang De with Nithiin, hit theaters this year in March and did fairly well at the box office.
Going forward, Keerthy has several films in her kitty and most of them are scheduled for theatrical releases. Keerthy's Good Luck Sakhi, a romantic sports comedy was all set to be released theatrically on 3 June 2021, however, the second wave of the covid-19 pandemic played a spoilsport as makers had to postpone it further.
Now, as theaters are closed again and the movie is ready for release for quite some time now, there are rumours that Good Luck Sakhi is going for a direct-to-digital release. However, on Monday (June 7), the makers of the film quashed the rumours of releasing their film directly to a streaming service. However, they did not confirm that the movie will release only in theaters and kept all the options open.
"Good Luck Sakhi – There are rumours that we are going for a direct OTT release all over media. Kindly request the media to refrain from saying so. None of it is true. We will come with an update if any. Hoping everyone stays home and stays safe", Sudheer Chandra, the producer of the movie, said in a statement.
The film's co-producer Shravya Varma also tweeted, "Hearing a lot of speculation about the release of #GoodLuckSakhi, as you all know it was to release on June 3rd but the turn of events did not permit us to do so. However, there is no clarity on the new release date or platform yet. We will update as soon as we have one".
Good Luck Sakhi is written and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and produced by Sudheer Chandra Padiri under the banner of Worth A Shot Motion Arts. Keerthy plays a sharpshooter in the film while Aadhi Pinisetty and Jagapathi Babu also essay key roles.
