Hyderabad, October 2 - Telugu superstar Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna's Pushpa - The Rise
was released in December last year and grossed over 360 crores worldwide. The movie did wonders in the dubbed Hindi version and grossed Rs. 125 crores at the domestic box office.
The producers of the Sukumar-directed film had claimed that the movie was a big blockbuster at the box office. Meanwhile, Telugu filmmaker Teja has made a big remark on the "Pushpa's" box office status and numbers in the Telugu language.
According to the greatandhra.com report, the "Sita" director has claimed that the Allu Arjun-starrer action drama film was a flop and did not recover its full money in Telugu. He mentioned that many exhibitors in Andhra Pradesh had lost money.
The filmmaker went on to say that the Telugu industry declared it a blockbuster just because it ran well in the Hindi language. Known for straight-forward talking, director Teja also blamed exorbitant prices for food items in multiplexes as the main reason for family audiences staying away from the theaters.
Meanwhile, Teja's next directorial is "Ahimsa", which introduces Rana Daggubati's brother Abhiram Daggubati. It is scheduled to release soon in theaters.
