Hyderabad, December 5 - Once again a Telugu movie is having a blast at the box office as Nandamuri Balakrishna's "Akhanda" is turning out to be a massive success. Directed by Boyapati Srinu, "Akhanda" has crossed Rs. 50 crores worldwide gross in just 3 days, which is a record for Balakrishna's film.
The action entertainer stunned that trade experts with an opening of Rs. 24.60 crores India gross on Thursday. It carried the momentum with Rs. 11.50 cr. and Rs. 12.40 crores gross on Friday and Saturday. With Sunday promises to be another big day, the movie has already entered a profit zone for the makers with an AP/TG gross share of Rs. 29.35 crores after 3 days.
Overseas, "Akhanda" becomes NBK's biggest success in the US with a gross collection of $700K, including preview collection. The movie has so far grossed Rs. 8 crores in overseas markets, taking the worldwide total gross to Rs. 56.10 crores, including Rs. 48.10 crores in India.
The movie is filled with mass elements that are making a huge impact at the box office. In the Nizam area, it will be the first to cross the break-even on Sunday. With Rs. 9.2 crore gross in 3 days, Nizam has been a top-performing area for "Akhanda", followed by Ceded (7.8 c.), UA (2.9 cr.), Guntur (2.72 cr.), and East (2.05 cr.).
"Akhanda", which marked NBK's third collaboration with Boyapati, was undoubtedly one of the most awaited Telugu films, and the box office numbers proved why it was. It has become another success story in Telugu cinema, which has kept the showbiz running during the covid-19 pandemic.
Produced by Dwaraka Creations, the movie features Pragya Jaiswal as the female lead alongside Jagapathi Babu, Subbaraju, Srikanth Meka, and Shamna Kasim in key roles. It is very much poised to touch a magical Rs. 100 crores worldwide gross figure, which will be a massive result for the makers.
