Shehnaaz Gill's Punjabi Comeback Film 'Honsla Rakh' Shattered Box Office Records

New Delhi, October 16 - Punjabi film "Honsla Rakh" has lightened up theaters on its first day itself. The movie, which stars Diljit Dosanjh, Shehnaaz Kaur Gill, Sonam Bajwa in the leading roles along with Shinda Grewal, opened in movie theaters on October 15 and earned INR 2.52 crore net in India.
Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron and produced by Daljit Thind, and Diljit Dosanjh, Honsla Rakh takes the biggest opening for a Punjabi film at the box office. It breaks the record of Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa's romantic comedy "Shadaa", which opened with Rs. 2.50 crores in 2019.
Honsla Rakh's large share of the total 1st-day collection came from NCR where it earned INR 71 lakh followed by Chandigarh (33 lakh), Ludhiana (27 lakh), Amritsar (16 lakh), and Jalandhar (14 lakh). The comedy entertainer took full advantage of the Dussehra holiday as the multiplexes reported higher occupancy on the first day of release.
The movie, which marks Shehnaaz Gill's comeback in Punjabi cinema after 3 years, is heading towards a solid 8 crores opening weekend. Among the recent Punjabi release, Ammy Virk, Shargun Mehta's Qismat 2 earned 1.40 crore and Amrinder Gill, and Simi Chahal's Chal Mera Putt 2 earned 2.40 crores on the first day respectivaly.
