Dhanush, who recently won National Award for the best actor for Asuran, has multiple big projects in the pipeline, Karnan is one of them which released on April 9 in theaters. The actor was disappointed when his "Jagame Thandhiram" skipped theatrical release and directly went on OTT (yet to premiere). Karnan is a highly-awaited film of Dhanush and always wanted it to release in theaters first, which exactly happened.

Directed by Mari Selvaraj, the story of the film is about, Karnan, a fearless village youth, who fights for the rights of the conservative people of his village, due to the torture given by a police officer. It also stars Lal, Rajisha Vijayan, Yogi Babu, and Natarajan Subramaniam in key roles.
