Riteish Deshmukh's 'Ved' Crosses 50 Crores Gross, Becomes Second Biggest Marathi Movie Ever

Mumbai, January 15 - Riteish Deshmukh's directorial debut, Ved is continuing its heroic run at the domestic box office, emerging as a big blockbuster for Marathi cinema.
The romantic drama film, which is a remake of the 2019 Telugu-language film "Majili", has completed 16 days and scored 44.92 crores net. The gross collection of the movie has crossed 50 crores and becomes only the second Marathi film of all time to achieve the feat.
Produced by Genelia Deshmukh, "Ved" has crossed blockbuster "Pawankhind's" lifetime collection (45 crores gross) to emerge the second highest-grossing Marathi film ever, behind only "Sairat" which is the only Marathi film to gross over 100 crores worldwide, 110 crores approx.
"Ved" stars Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh in the leading roles, reprising the roles of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu played in the original Telugu movie. The couple in lead is supported by Ashok Saraf and Jiya Shankar in pivotal roles.
Marathi cinema hasn't been in its best form for the last few years, barring a few box-office hits. "Ved" has started a new year on a blockbuster note, and the industry will be hoping to continue this streak.
