The highly anticipated and much-awaited Tamil movie, Soorarai Pottru starring superstar, Suriya premiered on November 12, on Amazon Prime Video after the film was postponed several times due to post-production delays and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Directed by Sudha Kongara, the story of the film which was conceptualized and written by Kongara is a fictionalized adaptation of the book Simply Fly, the autobiography of GR Gopinath, a retired Army captain and founder of the low cast airline Air Deccan. Getting dubbed in Kannada and Malayalam under the same title and in Telugu as Aakasam Nee Haddu Raa, the movie also star Paresh Rawal, Aparna Balamurali, Mohan Babu with Urvashi, and Karunas amongst others in supporting roles.



Soorarai Pottru is receiving highly encouraging reviews from the viewers. While Sudha Kongara is being applauded for her direction, Surya making all the headlines for playing the character of Nedumaaran Rajangam aka Maara/Maaran, a man from a remote village, who takes on mighty politicians, businessmen, and bureaucrats to realize his dream of launching his own airline.

Honest attempt .. very good first half and decent 2nd half ..little drag here and there but emotional connect remained same..kongara tried to show this as realistic as possible .. Suriya deserves a national award just for that one flashback scene TERRIFIC#SooraraiPottru
