Box Office: Sivakarthikeyan's 'Don' Crosses 50 Crores Gross Worldwide

Chennai, May 17 - Actor Sivakarthikeyan is becoming a new sensation in Tamil cinema after delivering yet another hit in the form of "Don". Cibi Chakaravarthi's directorial debut, "Don" has been able to overcome the huge expectations of the fans and trade as it has crossed the 50 crores mark at the worldwide box office in just 4 days.

The coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama film became the biggest opener for Sivakarthikeyan with 9.3 crores net on Friday. Over the 3-day opening weekend, the film scored 31+ crores net collection, which is the highest weekend total ever in Siva's career. The movie did well on Monday and collected 4.45 crores net, pushing the total domestic collection to 35.75 crores net or 41.6 crores gross, in both Tamil and Telugu languages.

Upon the release of the film, it got wonderful reviews from critics and audiences alike which transformed into big box office numbers. In the home state, Tamil Nadu, "Don" has minted over 35 crores gross, including 3.3 crores in the Chennai city alone in 4 days. Overseas, it has so far grossed approx. 12 crores, taking its total worldwide gross collection to 53.6 crores.

Produced by Lyca Productions and Sivakarthikeyan Productions, "Don" will look to cross the lifetime worldwide collection of "Doctor", which is Sivakarthikeyan's biggest grosser yet. Released in October 2021, "Doctor" had grossed a little over 100 crores worldwide, and the way "Don" is going about its business, it should become top 100 crores by the end of its box office run.

The film has Priyanka Arul Mohan playing the female lead. It is her second film with Sivakarthikeyan after "Doctor". Apart from the lead pair, the movie also stars S. J. Suryah, Samuthirakani, and Soori in pivotal roles. Anirudh Ravichander has scored the music, with cinematography and editing is done by K. M. Bhaskaran and Nagooran respectively.
