Chennai, 7 Oct 2022: One of the biggest states in terms of box office collection, Tamil Nadu state has very large numbers of moviegoers. This is also one of the states which have low ticket prices which means more footfall. This is the main reason no movie in history crosses the 200 Cr mark in Tamil Nadu. But now, it seems possible with the latest Tamil pride movie Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1 (PS-1).

PS1 was released on 30th September 2022 and from there, it has created havoc at the box office in Tamil Nadu. This movie crossed the 130 Cr mark in Tamil Nadu only in its first week.



Earlier, this year, Kamal Hassan's Vikram was released and out of surprise, it became an all-time highest-grossing movie in Tamil Nadu with more than 180 Cr as it received an overwhelming response from the audience. Vikram also becomes the only second Tamil movie to score 400 Cr Worldwide gross after 2 Point 0. PS1 will also join the group soon.

Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 will release after 6-8 months and is expected to break all the records in Tamil Nadu.
