Box Office: 'PS-1' First Monday Early Estimates

Chennai, October 3 - Mani Ratnam's epic period action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1 is re-writing box office records for a Tamil movie and putting up a remarkable show.
After the record-breaking opening weekend, the cinematic adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name, witnesses an excellent hold on its first Monday as it drops just around 50% from Sunday. It grossed an estimated 23 crores for all languages, pushing total domestic gross collection to over 150 crores.
In Tamil Nadu, "PS-1" is going berserk. After grossing a record-breaking 78.9 crores in the opening weekend, the movie scored an estimated 17 crores on Monday, taking the total gross collection to over 95 crores in the state. It will break into 100 crores by tomorrow and going by the latest trend, "PS-1" might become the first film ever to reach 200 crores in TN.
Produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, the "PS-1" original Tamil version has crossed 100 crores net, including an estimated 16 crores on Monday. The Hindi version too is proving a succesful venture approx. 10 crores net in 4 days. The Telugu and Kannada version have also crossed 15 crores net mark.
"PS-1" is Mani Ratnam's biggest-grosser ever, in fact, it is his first 100 crores worldwide grosser which it acheived in less than two days. Including the estimated total on Monday, "PS-1" has crossed 250 crores mark and is on its way to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2022.
