Los Angeles, July 20 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise is still, at the age of 60, one of the most bankable actors. He has just delivered the biggest blockbuster of his career in the form of Top Gun Maverick, which has already grossed over $1.24 billion at the worldwide box office.
Tom Cruise is one of the Hollywood actors who take a share of his movies' profit. According to Variety, the "Mission Impossible" star will net $100 million or more from ticket sales of "Top Gun 2", his salary, and his eventual cut of home entertainment rentals and streaming revenue.
The same report further said quoting one studio executive that most Hollywood actors aren't worth the money they have been paid but when it comes to Tom Cruise and maybe Dwayne Johnson, they justify their salaries, and thus, the studios are happy to give them what they demand.
Dwayne Johnson, who will be seen headlining DCEU's "Black Adam", scheduled for October 21, 2022, release, has been paid a whopping $22.5 million to star in the movie. Tom Cruise's deal with production studios is unique. As per Variety, the actor commands a significant percentage of the movie's first-dollar gross. That means that Cruise gets box office bonuses before the studio even breaks even.
Tom Cruise's next two films are "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One & Part 2". He is taking a lower fee upfront for starring in both the movies, which is between $12M and $14M. But just like "Top Gun 2", he will share movies' profits and both the movies are expected to fetch him another massive sum in his bag.
