Mumbai, July 8, 2021: If there was no covid-19 second wave, we would have been enjoying the high octane actioner, Fast & Furious 9 in theaters by now. But now, things are looking a lot better and the latest installment in Universal Pictures' F9 franchise, is gearing up for its big-screen debut in India.
After taking the world box office by storm, F9 will officially be releasing in India on August 19 next month and is one of the first big-budget action spectacles being released exclusively in cinemas this year. The Justin Lin directorial will be releasing in English and dubbed versions of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada languages.
The Fast and Furious franchise is one of Hollywood's most successful franchises in India. Since the first Fast & Furious film, the franchise has collected over USD 5 billion worldwide. Talking about F9, it has grossed over $600 million worldwide and is the first Hollywood movie of the pandemic era to achieve this feat.
F9 has already been released in the US, Canada, China, Russia, Korea, Hong Kong, and the Middle East. The global fan base around the series has only been on the rise, with many of them waiting with bated breath for F9 to release after the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic delayed it for over a year.
The sequel to The Fate of the Furious (2017) movie stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Chris Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron from the last film while John Cena joins Cardi B and Ozuna as the new faces to the star-studded line-up.
