'Fast X' Scored An Excellent Opening Weekend In India and The Worldwide Box Office

Los Angeles, May 21 - The 10th main installment in the Universal Pictures' "Fast & Furious" franchise, Fast X has an excellent opening weekend at the worldwide box office.
The high-octane action thriller scored $318.50 million (2640 crores) worldwide in its opening weekend, including $67 million at the domestic (North America) box office. Domestically, the movie opened slightly lower than the last movie "F9 - The Fast Saga" which grossed $70 million.
While the movie scored on the expected lines in North America, it surpassed expectations internationally by grossing $251.50 million over the 5-day weekend. China was the biggest market for the movie with $78.30 million over a 5-weekend weekend, including previews.
Meanwhile, the Louis Leterrier's directorial flick scored a fantastic 4-day opening weekend in India, grossing an estimated 71 crores ($8.6 million) or 60 crores net collection. This is the biggest opening for a Hollywood title in India this year, outgrossing Marvel's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania".
Overall, $319 million of "Fast X" is the second biggest worldwide opening of 2023, behind only "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" which grossed over $380 million over a 5-day weekend.
The top 10 international markets of "Fast X" through the first Sunday are as follows - China ($78.3M), Mexico ($16.7M), France ($9.6M), Brazil ($9.6M), India ($8.6M), Indonesia ($8.4M), Germany ($8M), the UK ($7.5M), Japan ($7M), and Korea ($6.7M).
