Los Angeles, May 11 - It has become a norm for the filmmakers to criticize Marvel movies by calling them "no real art". However, despite their criticism, Marvel movies are widely loved and accepted among audiences worldwide and such movies often end up doing wonders at the box office.
Elizabeth Olsen, who is back in theaters as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", is really tired of filmmakers such as Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola bashing Marvel movies. The actress said that she gets frustrated when people discredit cast and crew by bashing Marvel films.
"I'm not saying we're making indie art films, but I just think it takes away from our crew, which bugs me. These are some of the most amazing set designers, costume designers, and camera operators. I feel diminishing them with that kind of criticism takes away from all the people who do award-winning films, and that also work on these projects", Olsen told The Independent.
"From an actor's point of view, whatever, I get it; I totally understand that there's a different kind of performance that's happening. But I do think throwing Marvel under the bus takes away from the hundreds of very talented crew people. That's where I get a little feisty about that", she added.
In the past, the "The Aviator" director Martin Scorsese criticized Marvel films by comparing them with theme park rides. He also said that superhero movies have reshaped exhibition that is very harmful to non-superhero movies.
