Box Office: 'Thor Love and Thunder' Storms Past 100 Crores Gross In India

Mumbai, July 15 - Marvel Studios 4th Thor installment, Thor: Love and Thunder, starring Chris Hemsworth in the title role, has stormed past 100 crores gross mark at the Indian box office in the first week itself, scoring 103.85 crores.
The superhero movie, directed by Taika Waititi, becomes the 5th Marvel movie to score 100 crores gross in India, and is the second Marvel movie this year, after "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of the Madness", to do so. It took just 8 days to reach the milestone.
"Thor: Love and Thunder" has had a slow start as compared to "Doctor Strange 2", which reached the 100 crores gross in just 4 days. The Sam Raimi-directed movie collected approx. 165 crores gross in its full run and it is one of the biggest grosser at the India box office this year.
Meanwhile, at the worldwide box office, "Thor 4" has topped $400 million on Thursday. It has grossed $179 million at the North American box office through Wednesday while overseas, the superhero movie crossed $200 million. Domestically (North America), it is currently the 11th highest-grossing film during the covid-19 pandemic.
"Thor 4" stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor alongside Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Waititi, and Russell Crowe. In the film, Thor attempts to find inner peace but must return to action and recruit Valkyrie (Thompson), Korg (Waititi), and Jane Foster (Portman)—who is now the Mighty Thor—to stop Gorr the God Butcher (Bale) from eliminating all gods.
