Los Angeles, August 8 - Chris Hemsworth's newest Thor movie Thor: Love and Thunder opened in theaters last month domestically as well as internationally. The superhero movie, directed by Taika Waititi, didn't receive well by the critics as it has officially become the lowest-rated Thor movie with ratings of 65% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Even though the Marvel movie didn't go well with critics, it put up a strong show at the box office, and now, it has become the highest-grossing film in the Thor franchise at the domestic (North America) box office. Thor 4 has grossed $316 million after the end of the 5th weekend, beating Thor: Ragnarok's $315 million lifetime domestic total.
Thor: Ragnarok, however, is still the highest-grossing film in the franchise at the worldwide box office with $854 million, on the other hand, the latest flick has earned $700 million in total so far. Once Thor 4 tops $322 million, it will have sold more tickets than the previous Thor film.
In the film, Thor attempts to find inner peace but must return to action and recruit Valkyrie, Korg, and Jane Foster — who is now the Mighty Thor — to stop Gorr the God Butcher from eliminating all gods. It stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor alongside Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Waititi, and Russell Crowe in key roles.
