Box Office: 'Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness' Hits $500 Million Worldwide

Mumbai, May 11 - Marvel Studios/Disney's "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of the Madness" has a shot to become the second film post-pandemic to reach the $1 billion mark at the global box office, after "Spider-Man: No Way Home".
The Sam Raimi-directed movie has hit $500 million globally through Tuesday. Through yesterday (May 10), the superhero movie grossed $508 million, including $214 million domestically and $294 million overseas from 49 markets. It has topped $300 million internationally at the time of writing this piece.
The Top 10 international markets through Tuesday for "Doctor Strange 2" are Korea ($32M), the UK ($27.8M), Mexico ($23.8M), Brazil ($17.6M), India ($15.5M), Australia ($13.7M), France ($12.9M), Indonesia ($10.5M), Japan ($10.3M) and Germany ($10.2M).
The Benedict Cumberbatch/Elizabeth Olsen-starrer movie had grossed $449.4 million worldwide over the opening weekend. The opening weekend collection included $262.4 million overseas and $187 million domestic. That was the second-biggest global start for a non-Chinese movie during the covid-19 pandemic.
Internationally, and on a like-for-like basis, the opening weekend on Multiverse Of Madness was only 17% behind that of "Spider-Man: No Way Home", while 126% above "The Batman" and 160% over the original "Doctor Strange" pictures.
