Box Office: Black Panther 2 Clocks A Record-Breaking Opening Weekend Worldwide

Los Angeles, November 14 - Marvel Studios' Black Panther: Wakanda Forever dominated the domestic as well as the overseas box office in its opening weekend. The superhero movie grossed a mighty $331.3 million worldwide.
The sequel to the 2018's film demolished the record for a November opening in North America with $181 million, storming past the previous record mark of $158 million set by 2013's "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire". Overseas, it minted $150.3 million from 55 markets.
The $250 million budget flick could have achieved more had it been released in China and Russia, two huge theatrical markets where Marvel and other major Hollywood movies are no longer releasing due to various reasons. The first "Black Panther" grossed $1.4 billion globally, including $105 million in China and $19 million in Russia.
"Wakanda Forever" has the second biggest opening weekend of 2022 at the domestic (North America) box office, behind the $187.4 million debut of "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness". It also commands the third-best pandemic-era launch, behind the aforementioned "Doctor Strange" and "Spider-Man: No Way Home", which got started with $260 million.
