Hyderabad, October 2 - It's going to be Allu Arjun's Pushpa - Part 1" vs Tom Holland's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" at the Indian box office. On Saturday (October 2), the makers have finalized the release date of their most-awaited Pan-India flick "Pushpa The Rise". The film, which was earlier announced for Christmas release, has now been pushed up to December 17 in theaters.
"Pushpa", starring Allu Arjun, Fahadh Faasil, and Rashmika Mandanna in the leading roles, will be competing with Marvel/Columbia/Sony's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" at the box office. The Tom Holland-fronted superhero film was already announced for December 17 release in multiple Indian languages.
"Spider-Man" is a huge franchise in India and has always attracted audiences towards its larger-than-life experience. It, however, may not challenge "Pushpa" much in Telugu states but will surely have an upper hand in other regions, especially in the North.
Directed by Jon Watts, the 27th film in the MCU stars Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man along with alongside Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, J. B. Smoove, Benedict Wong, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx.
Sukumar-directed "Pushpa" is an action thriller film, which will be released in two parts. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, and Muttamsetty Media, the basic plot of the film is based on the red sanders smuggling in the Seshachalam Hills of the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. The film marks Fahadh Faasil's Telugu debut. He plays an antagonist in it.
