Mumbai, September 23: A documentary series, titled "Break Point", on Indian Tennis greats Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes is all set to premiere on ZEE5 on October 1st.
Co-directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari, the documentary series is the untold 'Bromance to Breakup' story, based on the iconic on-court partnership and off-court lives of Bhupati and Paes.
The seven-part series will not only construct the tennis matches featuring the two former Grand Slam champions but also deconstruct their relationship, both on and off the court, and their public split. It will also feature former Swiss tennis legend, Martina Hingis, along with Sania Mirza, Rohan Bopanna among others.
Hingis, who played mixed doubles with Bhuapti and Paes and won Grand Slams with them, talked about the time Bhupathi and Paes decided to part ways. "Either you can make it or you don't, but there is no time to hesitate and once you start doubting your partner, it's better to split up", she shared her views in documentary series.
"What they whiffed through, what they shared, their stories and their success, that's something that lasts forever", she added.
Mahesh Bhupati and Leander Paes are arguably the greatest Tennis players India ever produced. The duo has had some memorable on-court moments. Together, they won three Grand Slam double titles in form of the French Open (1999, 2001) and Wimbledon (1999), and on three occasions they end-up being runner-ups.
