Netflix's 'Stranger Things 4' Sets New Streaming Records

Los Angeles, July 12 - American science fiction horror drama series, Stranger Things 4 has been a monster hit for Netflix globally. Created by the Duffer Brothers, season 4 of the series was released in two parts with the first part of 7 episodes debuting on May 27 while volume 2 with the remaining two episodes on July 1 this year.

The 4th season of "Stranger Things" has not only been a big hit but also created new streaming records. It has become only the second Netflix series ever to score 1 billion watching hours, after Korean hit "Squid Game S1". Apart from this, the series also set a few more records, which are as follows -



1. Biggest Opening Weekend Ever For Netflix -

"Stranger Things 4", upon its release on May 27, scored 286.79 million hours of viewing time worldwide during its opening weekend. It stormed past the previous record holder, season two of "Bridgerton", which had 193 million viewing hours in the opening weekend.

2. Most-Watched English Series on Netflix of All Time -



"Stranger Things 4" is now the most-watched English language series of all time on Netflix. The series had reached the top spot by outscoring "Bridgerton: Season 2" in just 17 days. "Bridgerton: Season 2" was watched for 656.26 million hours in its first 28 days while "ST4" has already been watched for 1.15 billion hours on Netflix.

3. First English Series on Netflix To Be Watched For 1 Billion Hours -

There have been only two series on Netflix, which have been watched for over 1 billion hours. While "Squid Game" scored 1.6 billion viewing hours, "Stranger Things 4" is the second and the only English language show to achieve the feat on the streamer. "Stranger Things 3" is also in the top 5 most-watched English shows with 582.10 million viewing hours.



4. All-Time Nielsen Streaming Record For Any Web Series Belongs To ST4 -

"Stranger Things 4" has set a new weekly streaming record in the USA, according to Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings. According to Nielsen, "Stranger Things" scored 7.2 billion viewing minutes for the week of May 30-June 5, which is the highest weekly total for any streaming title since the advent of weekly rankings almost two years ago. This also includes the numbers of previous seasons, but the majority of viewing hours from S4.
