Mumbai, May 20, 2021: The highly-awaited trailer of Amazon Prime Video's new series, "The Family Man 2" was released on May 19. Within the minutes of the trailer launch, it started trending on social media. Manoj Bajpayee, who reprises his role as an NIA agent from season one, and Samantha Akkineni, who marks her digital debut with this series, winning a lot of praise for their roles.
Meanwhile, the trailer of The Family Man 2 is getting a homogenous response from the viewers and it has already become the most viewed web series trailer in India in the first 24 hours. Over 15 million people watched the trailer on Youtube which is a record for an Indian web show. Currently, The Family Man 2 trailer has over 20 million views with over 500K likes.
Created and directed by Raj & DK, The Family Man season one was a huge hit. And now, riding on the massive expectations and buzz, season 2 promises to be even bigger, and the response to the trailer is really setting up things well for Amazon Prime Video.
However, before the show premieres on June 4, the trailer seems to have given fresh air to controversy. Samantha Akkineni is playing a negative role in the series, and as shown in the trailer, she is a part of a group called Tamil rebels who joined hands with a dangerous terrorist organization, ISIS, to unleash an attack on India.
Samantha's role seems to be creating controversy as certain Tamil social media users feel that the show is depicting Tamilians as terrorists, and are upset with the actress as well for agreeing to do such a role. Under the hashtag of #FamilyMan2_against_Tamils, they are demanding a ban on The Family Man 2 and on Amazon Prime Video for the obvious reason.
