Mumbai, November 16 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has been one of the first persons to come forward to help the film industry. Post the covid-19 pandemic, Akshay was the first A-Lister to release his film in theaters in the form of "Bell Bottom" and kick-started the cycle for Bollywood.
Post the covid-19 pandemic, Bollywood has struggled to get success at the box office. One of the major reasons behind Bollywood films' failure at the box office is the budget which hasn't allowed filmmakers to earn a profit despite the films continuously grossing over 60 crores.
Keeping in mind that budget is a major concern, producers are now asking actors to reduce their fees so that they can cut the overall budget to keep it in check. Akshay Kumar is once again coming forward in this cause, and he recently announced the will reduce his fees by 30-40 percent for upcoming films, which is a huge margin as he used to charge around 100 crores to star in a film.
"There are so many other things that need to be done and not just by the actors but the producers and theatres as well. I want to bring down my prices by 30-40%. Theatres need to understand that it’s recession time also. The audience has a limited amount of money to spend on entertainment. Everything has to change. We have to work on the cost of me, the cost of making the film. Everything needs to be addressed", Akshay Kumar said during a recent HT conclave.
Akshay Kumar's last film was "Ram Setu", which is still running in a few theaters. The movie has grossed approx. 95 crores worldwide so far. The budget of the movie is said to be over 100 crores. Going forward, Akshay has several films in the pipeline, including the highly-awaited "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" and "Oh My God 2", among others.
